For this project, as I was interviewing participants, I felt it would be more powerful and poignant to let people's experiences and views speak for themselves. So I went for a radio documentary approach, collating the material in a creative way and underscoring it with emotive sounds. The resultant piece is in the spirit of the BBC Radio Ballads and Delia Derbyshire and Barry Bemange's Inventions for Radio.
